Sunday Prayer - 6 July 2025
We bow before you, with deep awe and respect for who you are
All-powerful creator and sustainer of the world
The one to whom we and all people will have to give an account
We delight in your goodness
We’ve come to know you through Jesus and the work of your Spirit
Your rule is exactly what our hearts desire
We long for justice and peace, all the more as we witness terrible things that humans are capable of
Let your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Start that work in our own lives Lord, because we recognise that we too are flawed and need you to transform us if we are to be any use for your purposes in renewing this broken world
We long for the day when violence will end, when poverty will be no more, when lies and spin will be exposed, when the strong will care for the weak. Please draw us into your plan to make these longings real.
We bring before you the distress of children and their parents who are subjected to abuse, especially in the wake of news this week.
Lord, keep our resolve strong to make this church a safe place for children and for all who are vulnerable in any way.
Justice and peace

Acknowledge wrongs of the past suffered by first nations people, seek healing based in truth and grace
We remember that the Wallumedegal group were here in Epping before Europeans arrived, and that you marked out - for all nations - their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands
European settlers did not respect the nations that were here before them. May we learn to respect them now
